You're Stubborn, but We Love You

It was no secret that Shawn could be very stubborn when he was sick. Some had said he was the most stubborn, whiny, clingy man you'd ever meet if he ever came down with something. Becca had once told a close friend that dealing with Shawn when he was sick was like dealing with a five year old in a forty-five year old man's body. She was currently being reminded of why she'd made that statement. Shawn had been sick for three days at that point and he was not being very cooperative at all. "Shawn...." Becca sighed exasperatedly while she ran her hands through his hair. "Why you gotta be so stubborn for huh?"

"I'm not stubborn." muttered Shawn before he coughed.

"Right....." Becca rolled her eyes. "If you're not stubborn then our daughter isn't madly in love with Jason."

Shawn just mummbled softly before he coughed again.

"Baby, you know I'm only trying to help..." Becca sighed. "You don't have to be so sour with me."

Shawn sighed softly "Sorry Becca." he said.

"S'okay baby, y'know I love," Becca smiled.

Angel came home from school a few minutes later and walked into her parents bedroom. "Hey daddy," Angel smiled warmly. "Still not feelin' well?" Angel asked.

Shawn shook his head and coughed again before sneezing.

"He's still being stubborn," Becca replied.

Angel chuckled. "And he says I get that from Teresa."

Shawn stuck his tongue childishly and turned over.

Becca chuckled. "Angel darlin' could you go find the thermometer for me?" Becca asked.

Angel nodded and went to go look for it.

Shawn pulled the blankets closer around him, feeling chilly.

Angel came back a few minutes later. "Momma, do you mind if I do it?" Angel asked. "I need the hands on credit for class."

Becca shook her head. "Go ahead honey," Becca said.

Angel walked over to her father. "Open up daddy," Angel said.

Shawn sighed and opened his mouth so Angel could put the thermometer in.

Angel placed the thermometer in her father's mouth, running a hand through his hair.

Shawn sighed when he heard the thermometer beep.

Becca pulled it out of his mouth and sighed. "101.9," Becca told Angel who wrote it down in the notebook where she'd been keeping track of her father's vitals since he got sick. She could turn that in for a grade in her Allied Health Sciences class.

Shawn curled up just wanting to go to sleep.

"Get some rest honey," Becca said. "We'll take a good look at you after you sleep."

Shawn nodded and closed his eyes falling asleep quickly.

Becca sighed and walked downstairs to start making some soup. She figured she'd try to get Shawn to eat something when he woke up.
